Osteomyelitis
Intro
A bacterial infection of the bone. It usually affects long bones in children and the vertebrae in adults. It can lead to a psoas abscess which can cause lower abdominal pain.

Risk Factors
- Exposure to pathogen
- Compromised immune system
- Can be caused by tissue trauma such as fracture, surgery, wounds and ulcers.
S&S
- Pain and tenderness over affected area
- Fever
- Chills
- If infection is in a vertebrae, there can be muscle guarding near the site
